This is my 2nd year teaching at Lakewood, and I absolutely love it.  Although teaching is a challenging career, I find myself being reminded how rewarding working with children is.  My first year at Lakewood I taught 4K, and my name was Ms. Podgorski.  Over the summer I got married, bought a house, and began teaching 3rd grade.  The house that we bought is in Twin Lakes, and I really enjoy living nearby.  All of the children that I teach are also teaching me.  They teach me every day about themselves, and we learn many things together as well.  I’ve already gotten a glimpse at how amazing and intelligent each child in our class is.  I can’t wait to see what they will all become in their future!

If you want to more about me, just ask!  If you have any feedback on the website, or on what would be more helpful to you or your child, I’m still learning and welcome any feedback that will improve my teaching!

Important Information

It’s important to have high expectations for children, so that they can work had and reach those expectations.  Each child is working toward becoming responsible, so that they can be successful in 3rd grade and beyond.  Here are a few things each child should do at night, that will help them reach success:

  1. Get their agenda signed.  This ensures they’re bringing all the materials required home and back to school.  It also let’s you know what we’re doing in class, and what is expected of them.  Please remember to look over and sign your child’s agenda each night!
  2. Completing their homework.  I truly believe that homework is extra practice that they can get one on one help from family on at home, and that it is crucial practice that leads to their development.  I do not send home work that will take them too long to complete.  At the most, they should be spending 30 minutes on their homework.
  3. Reading 20 minutes a night.  Read, Read, Read.  This can be out of a chapter book, a short book with a family member, or out of a school textbook.  If your child reads for 20 minutes each night he/she will become a better reader, which will help them out in every aspect of school.  They will also become better writers, more confident in their reading, and they’ll learn a ton from those books!
